Murrumbidgee Seniors Programme alterations click here
Who are they? The Murrumbidgee Seniors are a group of mature male and female golfers who like to play a friendly competition once a week. Some come into the group as rank beginners but others have played golf for quite a while and have well established handicaps. The Seniors enjoy their golf and enjoy various associated social aspects as well.
What do they do? Mostly, all Seniors’ competitions are scored on the Stableford scoring system, with a ‘ball’ comp as part of each day’s play. An eclectic competition is also concurrently conducted. On the last Friday of each month, the usual 9-hole competition, played on the ‘back nine’ is replaced by the 18-hole Ron Skipper Trophy, played from the 1st tee. Play in this competition allows any Senior to retain their club handicap, even if they do not play in other 18-hole Club competitions.
The Seniors also host regular lunches, after play. They also have away-from-Canberra, ‘getaway’, golfing packages for all golfers, their friends and spouses.
Who’s eligible? The group is open to all MCC members, over 55 years of age or who have “retired”. Non-members are welcome and are eligible for the ball competitions, provided they are over 55 and have a current handicap from another club.
When? Fridays, unless otherwise notified. The Seniors’ Competition moves to Thursday when the MCC needs Friday morning for a major event such as a corporate golf day. Adequate notice of any changes in the Seniors’ program is posted on the Seniors’ noticeboard in the clubhouse and on the MCC web site.
In summer, competition starts at 8am and in winter at 8.30am. Player’s order of commencement is normally in order of arrival. IMPORTANT NOTICE from Friday 1 April 2005 seniors play will commence at 8.30am
